At The Big Dog Squad, we generally welcome dogs that are considered large or giant breeds, typically weighing 25+kg when fully grown.

Our community is designed specifically for larger dogs and their owners, with walks, social events and activities tailored to their needs, exercise levels and handling requirements.

We understand that every dog is different, so if you’re unsure whether your dog would be a suitable fit, please get in touch. We are happy to review applications on a case-by-case basis.

No. Big Dog Squad events are exclusively for large-breed dogs. Please do not bring small dogs to any of our events, even if they are friendly, and do not arrive with a small dog without prior approval. This policy is in place to ensure the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of everyone attending.

Yes- within reason. We welcome dogs who are nervous, anxious or still building confidence. We just ask that owners advocate for their dog, respect other dog’s space and training.

What we mean by reactive:

Your dog may bark, lunge or feel overwhelmed by other dogs or situations, but they are not seeking to cause harm.

We cannot accommodate dogs who:

• Show aggressive behaviour with intent to harm

• Display resource guarding or human aggression

• Have a bite history toward dogs or people

Safety always comes first- for all dogs and humans.

No, we’re a community of dog owners supporting each other. We share experiences, not professional training.

For the safety of all dogs and owners, our events are lead-only unless otherwise stated by a Big Dog Squad organiser.

Even if your dog is friendly, please always ask the group before letting them off lead. Under no circumstances should your dog be off lead if they do not have a reliable recall or are likely to approach other dogs or people without permission.

Remember that not every dog is comfortable with interactions, and respecting everyone's space helps keep our events safe, relaxed, and enjoyable.

No. Dogs in season are not permitted to attend any Big Dog Squad events. This helps prevent unwanted attention from other dogs, reduces stress within the group, and ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Please wait until your dog is no longer in season before joining us.

We aim to get together at least once a month for group walks and social meet & greets.

Not at all! Participation is completely optional. Join when you can, skip when you can’t. No pressure.

In most cases, yes- but we ask members to keep additional guests to a maximum of one adult plus-one unless otherwise stated in the event details.

As many of our dogs are large breeds, nervous, in training or require space around unfamiliar people, we aim to keep our walks and meet-ups calm, safe and manageable for everyone attending.

Children are generally not permitted on standard BDS walks and hikes unless the event specifically states otherwise. This helps us create a predictable environment for both dogs and owners and reduces the risk of dogs becoming overwhelmed.

Please do not create or order your own Big Dog Squad merchandise. To help protect the brand and ensure consistency across the community, all merchandise designs and orders must be approved and organised by the Community Admin team.

The Big Dog Squad is based in the North West of England, with most of our walks, hikes and social events taking place across the region.

We do our best to accommodate members from surrounding areas where possible and may occasionally organise events further afield based on interest and demand.

Yes! The Big Dog Squad is completely free. We just ask for respectful, kind humans.
